Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees’ have had a long-standing relationship with the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. For the past 15 years, Northeast franchisees have hosted one of the largest private fundraising golf tournament for the Jimmy Fund. Dollars raised at this event fund a program called the “Dunkin’ Donuts ‘Right Treatments Rid Cancer’ Research Fund.” Support for this program has provided Dana-Farber researchers with the freedom to pursue basic forms of laboratory discover—research that is too preliminary for standard government funding. Although there have been exciting research advances in 2012, the work remains unfinished and the quest for funds continues.
This year the 16th annual Dunkin’ Donuts George Mandell Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at renowned International Country Club in Bolton, MA. Participation in this event is not open to the public.
The Dunkin’ Donuts George Mandell Memorial Golf Tournament began in 1998 in honor of George Mandell, a Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee who lost his battle to cancer. In 15 years, his fellow franchisees, valued suppliers and consumers have raised more than $9.6 million for the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
